"Day One: From Surprises to Hookah Fun"
While unloading my bicycle at the temple, a guy came to me and started asking about my journey. He sounded kind of rude, but then I realized it’s not his fault; it’s just the way he talks. After some conversation, he started becoming friendlier and invited me for Hookah. Well, it wasn’t my first time, but even then, I wanted to try it. After some time, I realized it wasn’t Hookah at all; I was high. I asked him what it was, and he said it was Ganja (weed). That’s when I realized what was getting me high.
He then invited me for dinner, and as I was hungry from pedaling all day in the heat, I agreed. This was my first time on a bicycle trip. Before this, I had never been on a cycling trip, not even for a day. I had no hat, not even a single full-sleeve shirt, and no sunscreen to protect myself from the heat. I started from Delhi around 8 o’clock without having breakfast. Delhi was too crowded, and it took me two hours to get out of there. I reached Gurugram, where I saw a roadside stall selling biryani. I had my breakfast there and packed one for lunch.
I resumed pedaling, and around 2 in the afternoon, the heat became intense. I took a break at a petrol pump, had my lunch there, and rested for a while. Then, I started pedaling again around 4 in the evening. After an hour, I witnessed one of the best sunsets. As the sun set and it got dark, I had no idea where I would stay for the night.
Then I saw a temple. Nervousness kicked in as I hesitated to ask if I could stay there for the night. It was my first bicycle trip to Rajasthan. I stopped pedaling, paused for a minute, and after gathering courage, I went to the temple. I parked my bicycle outside and saw Panditji sitting on a chair, doing some daily chores. Somehow, I managed to tell him about my journey, and after some inquiries, he agreed to let me stay. I was very happy that I finally found a place to stay. He also asked if I had dinner, and I said I would manage.
Later, the guy who offered me Hookah asked me to help Panditji make dinner. I agreed and helped with making rotis. We then had our dinner. I’m on this bicycle trip to experience these kinds of things. These experiences are what differentiate a tourist from a traveler, according to me.
